Premier Lakes reports algae and reduced compressor noise; district to study tone and delay plantings

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes appeared by phone and updated the River Ridge board on lake conditions on July 23, saying the lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are in good shape overall although seasonal algae growth was observed. Kurth reported that a palm on the shoreline of Lake E7A was removed as part of routine maintenance.
Kurth said a cabinet installed around the compressor on Masters Lake reduced the measured sound level from about 64 decibels to about 52 decibels at an intermediary location. "The sound level has been reduced from 64 to 52 decibels," Kurth said, and called that reduction acceptable at the measured midpoint between the compressor and the screen line. Operations Manager Shane Willis cautioned that the issue remains the tone of the aerator rather than the raw decibel measurement and recommended considering moving the compressor and evaluating easement constraints. Willis will coordinate with Bill and Alex Kurth and report findings at the next meeting.
The board discussed flooding and shoreline work in Edgewater, including installing piping, littoral plantings and rip‑rap; the consensus was to postpone planting Canna lilies and to delay installing littorals in Lake E4‑A until an agreement is reached with the Edgewater Condominium Association. Staff will place the Lake E4‑A planting proposal on hold and resubmit it after resolution with the association.
