Diamondville council renews three liquor licenses and accepts mayor's 2026 appointments

The Diamondville Town Council on Jan. 19 approved three liquor license renewals for 2026–2027 and the mayor announced several appointments for the coming year.
Mayor Eric Backman opened a public hearing at 6:02 p.m. on liquor license renewals for Wagner Enterprises, Inc. DBA Wagner Chevron; Luigi’s Supper Club; and Our Place 777 LLC. With no members of the public in attendance or offering comment, Mayor Backman closed the hearing at 6:03 p.m.
Under new business, Council Member Nicole Petersen moved to approve the 2026–2027 liquor license renewals for Wagner Enterprises DBA Wagner Chevron, Luigi’s Supper Club and Our Place 777 LLC; Council Member Robert Sawaya seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously to approve the renewals.
The governing body also discussed the upcoming 250th semiquincentennial celebration, titled “From Independence to Identity,” and no formal action was taken on that item at this meeting.
Mayor Backman appointed Amy Bulter as Diamondville’s building inspector for 2026, James Sanderson of Sanderson Law Office as the town attorney for 2026, and Thayne Petersen as the town’s municipal court judge for 2026. The appointments were recorded as carried unanimously.
The council later entered executive session on a personnel matter and reconvened without taking action; the meeting adjourned at 7:21 p.m.
Votes recorded in the meeting minutes were unanimous among members present for the license renewals and appointments.
