Diamondville council adopts building‑permit and fee ordinances on final reading, orders interviews for vacant seat

On Feb. 2 the Diamondville Town Council approved two ordinances on their third and final reading.
Ordinance 493 amends Chapter 8 (Building Permits) to establish building-permit term limits and require compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws. Ordinance 494 removes the fees section from Chapter 11.30 and provides that fees will be established by separate resolution of the governing body.
Both measures were moved by Councilmember Robert Sawaya and seconded by Councilmember Nicole Petersen; the minutes record that all voted aye and the motions carried. Also under Unfinished Business the council noted two applications had been received for a vacant council seat and directed that each applicant be interviewed before the next meeting to preserve transparency and assist the council’s selection process.
