Algoma awards Sunset Avenue street-and-utility bid to Peters Concrete; park shelter approved

The Algoma Common Council voted Dec. 1 to award the Sunset Avenue Street and Utility Project to Peters Concrete and approved a separate request to place a small shelter inside Horseshoe Park.
During the meeting the chair presented Resolution 12-43-2025 to award the Sunset Avenue contract to Peters Concrete. After a motion and second, the clerk conducted a roll-call vote and recorded affirmative votes from the members present; the resolution passed.
Separately, a representative described a proposed shelter to be located in the northeast corner inside the Horseshoe Park fence to provide shade and storage during tournaments. Staff said the Horseshoe Club would pay for the structure and the city would have no financial obligation. Council members confirmed the proposed location would not obstruct residences and approved the request by voice vote.
The awarded contract and park approval move both projects into implementation steps: staff will prepare contract documents for Peters Concrete and coordinate installation details and permits for the Parks and Recreation request.
