Selectboard weighs FY27 road projects, drainage priorities and Town Park title research

Selectmen and staff discussed the Highway Department’s proposed FY27 project list, which includes paving Burleigh Hill Road and applying fabric/box out treatment to Dr. True Road and Maple Circle. Selectman Mark Brown urged the board to consider road‑widening and drainage work that would help preserve pavement.
Selectman Brandon Deacon said he had received a list of projects from Highway Director Johnny Van Tassel and noted the Tree Removal budget is overspent; Van Tassel plans to speak with property owners about hazardous trees on Perkins Road. Deacon said that if funds are limited, paving should at least reach the Town Beach because it is a public facility; resident Ray Masse opposed that prioritization, saying taxpayers beyond the beach should not be deprioritized and that runoff concerns on Maple Circle point to addressing the Vortechs system there.
Town Administrator Trish Stafford reported that Ellis Electric submitted an invoice for Town Park work and she will check remaining grant funds. Deacon said he is researching ownership of a portion of the Town Park parcel; Selectman Mark Brown recommended obtaining a title abstract, and staff member Audry Barriault said she located office paperwork related to the parcel to give to the administrator.
