Sanbornton approves $21,457 police equipment grant and authorizes cruiser title sale

The Sanbornton Selectboard on April 22 approved the police department’s participation in the FY26 J‑One Equipment Grant through the New Hampshire Department of Safety, with a maximum award of $21,457.28 to be used for mobile data terminals and related equipment. Selectman Ralph Carter moved the grant participation; Selectman Mark Brown seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Chief of Police Steve Hankard was authorized to sign the grant contract on the town’s behalf. The board also unanimously authorized Town Administrator Trish Stafford to sign the Certificate of Authority related to the grant. Separately, the Selectboard approved allowing the police chief to sign the title for a cruiser that will be sent to auction in May.
The actions were voted during the new-business portion of the meeting; no dissent or public comment on the grant was recorded. The motions and authorizations were presented as administrative steps to secure equipment funding and clear a retired vehicle for auction.
