McIntosh council approves permits, donations and park improvements, schedules mosquito spraying

At its June 11 meeting, the McIntosh City Council approved a series of routine administrative and maintenance items.
Councilmember Beth Hagen moved and Councilmember Luke Syverson seconded approval of the May 14, 2026 minutes. The council approved building permits for Mathew Sandberg and Ambrose Anderson after separate motions; both motions carried.
On infrastructure, the council discussed a Maguire Iron quote for water tower cleanout and by motion (moved by Councilmember Syverson, seconded by Councilmember Mark Simonson) voted to remain with its current water tower maintenance provider, KLM, LLC. Council also discussed obtaining quotes for a new tractor for mowing and snow removal.
Council reviewed the city’s animal ordinances and agreed that proposed changes to the citation process will be discussed with the city attorney.
On parks, Councilmember Luke Syverson moved and Councilmember Beth Hagen seconded approval to install a privacy screen around the Roholt Park dumping station to comply with new Minnesota state guidelines; the motion carried. Mayor Toby Strom directed city staff (Peter Tranby) to address overgrown trees and shrubs in city parks.
The council accepted a $2,000 donation from the Beito Foundation for beautification and a $500 donation from the same foundation for the July Fourth celebration; the July Fourth funds will be distributed to the Let Freedom Ring organization to support celebration expenses. Council approved city claims totaling $23,848.68 and authorized a $100 Bully Brew gift card for David and Wanda Stordahl in recognition of volunteer curb painting.
Councilmember Syverson raised pothole repairs and Mayor Strom said he would request quotes from paving contractors. Mosquito spraying was scheduled for the weeks of June 22 and June 29. With no further business, the council adjourned at 6:47 p.m.; the next meeting was set for July 7, 2026.
