Town of Webster adopts Jackson County historic preservation ordinance with firmer language

After review, the board considered an edit requested by Town Attorney Will Morgan and approved a motion to amend the draft by striking the word “may” and replacing it with “shall.” Commissioner Brandon Core moved to adopt the ordinance; Commissioner Allen Davis seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The change—from permissive language to mandatory language—was the only edit recorded during the motion to adopt. The record shows the board completed the required public hearing and voted to enact the ordinance without amendment beyond the specific wording change.
The meeting continued with other business and adjourned at 7:30 p.m.; no additional procedural steps for the ordinance were specified in the public record. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 5, 2025.
