At its May meeting, the Cuba Board of Aldermen completed first and second readings on several ordinances, approved motions to advertise bids and declared surplus items for sale, and accepted multiple routine personnel recommendations.
Among the actions recorded as first or second readings were ordinances authorizing the mayor to enter agreements for facility use by the Cuba Ball Program and Cuba Soccer Association (bills 2212 and 2213), an agreement with Utility Safety and Design Inc. (USDI) for natural gas operator training (bill 2214/MPUA evaluations), and a hay-cutting services agreement for city-owned properties (bill 2216). Council conducted roll-call votes on readings and recorded ayes for the motions called.
Council also approved putting the old Tangle Creek Pavilion up for surplus bid instead of tearing it down and discussed requiring bidder insurance and timelines for removal. Staff received authorization to advertise for copier-lease bids for city offices and to proceed with hiring for recommended seasonal recreation positions and board appointments; several appointment names and term expirations were read into the record.
The meeting closed its business items and then received the city’s required Sunshine Law training from legal counsel (see separate coverage).
