Planning commission to correct zoning-map discrepancies; tiny-home rules deferred pending state guidance

At the Feb. 26 meeting, City of Richmond planner Kendra Ellner led the commission through a list of discrepancies on the official zoning map that had been raised in prior meetings and said she would finalize the agreed corrections.
Ellner described walking through map changes from the west side of town to the east and told commissioners she will make the final adjustments noted in the packet. No formal ordinance change was proposed at the meeting; the planner will update the map to reflect the commission's corrections.
The commission also discussed whether Richmond should allow tiny homes. Ellner cautioned there are many technical and zoning considerations, saying, "there is a lot that comes along with adding tiny homes to a city as far as lot size, size of the home, building foundation, etc." She added the city may also need to designate a specific zoning district for tiny homes and said she will gather information from the state and return with recommendations at a future meeting.
No formal action was taken on zoning amendments or tiny-home policy at the meeting; both items will return when staff can present finalized map edits and state guidance on small-dwelling regulations.
