County Council representative urges transportation investments, highlights youth program and NFL Draft plans

Kathleen Madonna-Emmerling, the County Council District 1 representative, updated the Findlay Township Board of Supervisors on March 26 about countywide planning and local transportation priorities.
Madonna-Emmerling said her district boundaries have changed and now include parts of Ross Township; she urged township leaders to take part in the County's 25-Year Comprehensive Plan so the County can set priorities for infrastructure, jobs, trails and multi-modal transit. She said the County is considering a bus-line "refresh" that would prioritize direct service from Ross and Oakland to the airport. Madonna-Emmerling also described a "Learn & Earn" program for youth ages 14–23 that connects participants with local trade placements and requested that local employers consider hosting trainees.
Board members raised local transportation concerns: Supervisor Janet Craig said Findlay lacks public transportation and noted that many Amazon employees do not live in the township; Supervisor Thomas Gallant said residents want transit to Westport and cited the 28X bus no longer stopping at IKEA. The Board and Madonna-Emmerling discussed negotiations with the Airport Authority on a parking tax and Ms. Craig stressed the airport is located in Findlay Township, not Moon Township.
Madonna-Emmerling also outlined plans tied to the upcoming NFL Draft, including a One Pass weekend shuttle option and special shuttles from Moon Park-N-Ride; Visit Pittsburgh will share public information and a custom stage and event mapping are being developed. She offered a letter of support for Main Street grant applications. The Board thanked her for the visit and support.
