A resident has alleged that Fire Chief Kenny Beito did not handle a harassment complaint properly, and the matter is pending further evidence, according to Middle River City Council minutes from the June 10 meeting.
City Attorney Delray Sparby told the council the complainant must supply text messages with dates and times and a list of in-person incidents with dates, times and members present before a formal inquiry can proceed. The minutes record: "All names are to be kept confidential."
Council members did not announce any formal disciplinary steps at the meeting; the city is awaiting the requested records to determine whether to open an official investigation.
