RSU 23 board approves four policy second readings and receives committee updates

Donna Moutsatsos moved to accept all four second readings; Santino Perrone seconded the motion. The board voted unanimously in favor and the motion was approved.
During routine reports, Eric Hanson said the Calendar Committee has assembled a group to align RSU 23’s calendar with neighboring districts (Saco, Biddeford and Kennebunk) within a five-day window, with a draft expected in March and hoped-for approval in April. The Curriculum Committee did not meet.
Superintendent John Suttie, reporting for finance, said the district is on track at about 54% of expected spending for the year and discussed budget development; he also noted a frozen-pipe incident at LMS that will involve insurance after a $5,000 deductible. The Technology Committee reported teachers will receive updated MacBooks this spring.
