He said the average Mantoloking home, assessed at $2,826,187, would see an annual tax increase of about $449 under the proposed figures.
Amarante highlighted specific year‑to‑year increases: an additional $20,000 for an administrative assistant in the Construction Department plus a $10,000 annual software fee; a $50,000 increase in health‑insurance costs; an $88,000 increase in police salaries tied to adding a 10th officer; and a $50,000 addition to the beach‑replenishment reserve. Amarante called it a challenging fiscal year but said the borough had kept the tax‑rate increase on par with the previous two years.
The budget was introduced for further consideration and public review; additional hearings and the formal adoption process will follow the notice requirements in local law.
