Select Board records timber bond payment, sets warrant-article order and corrects assessor line in budget

The Springfield Select Board recorded that a timber bond for a Gile Forest logging operation has been posted and discussed final housekeeping on warrant-article submissions and the draft 2026 budget.
Janet Roberts reported that the intent to cut for logging on public land in Gile Forest requires a bond; she said the logger has posted the required bond of $7,264 for operation 25-419-05-T. The board acknowledged the payment and the timber bond requirement.
The board then reviewed warrant-article submittals and the order in which items will appear on the Town Meeting warrant. Janet Roberts said the zoning-article language had been submitted to the DRA portal and that explanations were added; she will review what was entered to ensure accuracy and share finalized ballot language with the Town Clerk. The Select Board set the order of warrant articles (listed as Articles 1–8) but a member noted earlier references to there being seven warrant articles; the board will verify and correct the count before the warrant is finalized.
Roberts also noted a budget correction: the assessor line item should reflect $35,000 (the normal 2025 level) and that the 2026 budget line will be set to $35,000 for accurate accounting.
The board adjourned the meeting at 6:35 p.m.
