Thorp council approves $406,841.94 pay application, adopts storage-container ordinance and vacates portion of E. Grant Street

The Thorp City Council on Oct. 10 voted unanimously to approve a contractor pay application, adopt a new ordinance regulating temporary portable storage containers and pass a final resolution to vacate part of East Grant Street.
The most consequential action was approval of Resolution 2022-10-01 to authorize Pay Application #1 from Haas Sons, Inc. for the 2022 Street & Utility Project on W. School and N. Church streets. The council approved the request, which lists an amount of $406,841.94, on a 5-0 vote after a motion by Alderperson Abramczak and a second by Alderperson Einhorn.
Council members also passed Ordinance No. 2022-10-01, creating subsection 12-3-6(f) to regulate temporary portable storage containers. Alderperson Rosemeyer moved the ordinance and Alderperson Lawcewicz seconded; the measure carried 5-0.
Separately, the council approved Resolution 2022-10-02, a final resolution vacating a portion of E. Grant Street pursuant to Wis. Stat. §66.1003(4). The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Alderperson Einhorn and seconded by Alderperson Lawcewicz; the vote was 5-0.
There were no public comments on the street vacation during the public hearing. The meeting record lists Mayor Richard Wnek and alderpersons Abramczak, Einhorn, Korn, Lawcewicz and Rosemeyer as voting members present.
The council also reviewed routine financial and department reports during the meeting and set a timeline to continue review of the 2023 General Fund operating budget. A closed-session discussion on 2023 pay rates occurred later in the meeting; the council reconvened in open session and took no action.
