The Bluff Town Council on June 16 authorized the purchase of 1.84 acres from the Southwest Heritage Foundation to expand the Bluff Cemetery and approved a subsequent lot-line adjustment to combine all town-owned cemetery land into a single parcel.
Council passed Resolution #107, which authorizes Mayor Josh Ewing to execute a purchase contract for the 1.84-acre parcel, contingent on no significant issues arising as legal counsel completes the contract and deed review. Town staff told council the Southwest Heritage Foundation accepted the survey prepared by Brad Bunker. The resolution passed by unanimous roll-call vote.
Following the purchase authorization, the council adopted Resolution #108 approving a simple lot-line adjustment to consolidate the cemetery property into one recorded parcel. Councilmembers said the adjustment will help ensure the newly acquired acreage is recorded consistently and will support grant-match timelines tied to the fiscal year.
Minutes record the purchase price as "$10,00.00"; staff and council discussion indicate the intended purchase amount is ten thousand dollars. The council authorized the mayor to execute the purchase assuming legal review does not identify material concerns; staff may schedule a special meeting if documents are not returned in time to meet grant-match timing for FY26.
Next steps: complete legal review, record the combined parcel, and, if required, convene a special meeting to finalize the purchase before the end of FY26 so the purchase can be counted as a grant match.
