Wastewater and waterworks operators report sampling, Well 4 work and equipment upgrades

At the Oct. 8, 2025 meeting of the Village of Granton board, the wastewater operator and the waterworks operator summarized recent maintenance and compliance work on the village’s utilities.
The wastewater operator reported that sampling for discharge began in November and that crews used a pontoon to clear a clogged pipe. The operator said the village ordered additional chemicals to control phosphorus levels and completed required DNR reports for water.
The waterworks operator said cleanup and painting for Water Well 4 are complete, a transducer for the BW holding tank has arrived and installation is being scheduled, and bacteriological (BacT) samples for September were completed with no issues.
Both operators described routine public-works tasks: crews completed oil changes on trucks, backhoe and tractor, performed graveling in some areas, and will use newly ordered paint and a painting cart to mark road lines. The wastewater operator noted park mowing and cemetery weed trimming, including removal of artificial flowers.
The reports indicate routine operations and short-term maintenance needs; the waterworks operator said the transducer installation will be scheduled soon, which may require staff time and small purchases. No formal board actions or votes on these items were recorded at the meeting.
