Gresham board approves utility and village bills, allows open intoxicants for July holiday and OKs July 5 parade route

At its June 17 meeting the Village of Gresham Board approved routine village and utility payments, authorized an allowance for open intoxicants over the Independence Day holiday and approved the route for the community parade, according to the meeting minutes.
Village President Rick Giese called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and roll call recorded five members present and two absent. The board approved the agenda and a motion to allow deviations from the printed order of business before taking up the consent agenda and committee reports.
The Finance & Administration Committee presented the village and utility financials. Committee chair Judith Kristof reported village expenses of $46,614.07 and the board moved to approve payment of the bills and required transfers. Brian Carroll presented utility totals: the finance minutes record electric expenses of $161,930.30 (approved in committee), while a separate line in the general village financial report lists electric payments of $160,880.31; the board approved electric payments by motion. The board also approved water bills of $10,341.66 and sewer bills of $2,081.96.
On committee business, the Protective Services report included Chief Rabideau’s May report, ongoing ordinance-enforcement items and plans for Independence Day public-safety coverage; the committee had asked the board to allow open intoxicants during holiday events. The board approved an open-intoxicants allowance from noon on July 4 through 2:00 a.m. on July 7 for Independence Day celebrations (motion carried 5–0, two absent).
The board approved the July 5 parade route (from Schabow to Veterans Park) and discussed Fourth of July celebration logistics, including contests and a community rummage sale. The board granted one operator’s license for a Dollar General employee and approved a $100 sponsorship for a firefighters’ golf outing.
Public Works reported continuing work on sewer-jetting and recent playground equipment installation. The board discussed a proposed ballpark use/maintenance agreement and received committee research on potential charging arrangements between the village and the school district; that item was tabled for further review.
Other approvals included acceptance of a certified survey map donation from D. Huntington for the Tilleda Snowmobile Association and authorization to construct two storage sheds for parks at approximately $2,200 each. The electric committee’s recommendation to join APPA (the American Public Power Association) was approved on motion.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m. following a motion by Brett Hoffman, seconded by Art Bahr (motion carried 5–0, two absent).
