Members focused on practical issues that will shape the final plans: meeting height requirements for salt delivery trucks and equipment, interior layout to optimize storage capacity, whether sand should be stored inside or remain outside, materials that resist salt corrosion, and whether a concrete floor is necessary. The Board also reviewed draft parking layouts, discussed drainage and retaining‑wall options, and identified consulting input from town road contractors as needed.
Howard funding was discussed in general terms: board members identified USDA grant programs as a likely funding source to pursue but did not commit to a specific funding plan at the meeting. The motion to proceed was put forward by Juergens and carried by a recorded unanimous vote of the three Selectmen.
The Board directed staff to schedule a meeting with the road agent to develop technical requirements and to return with cost estimates and grant possibilities before finalizing design specifications.
