The Town of Stratford Selectboard discussed the future of a town-owned Ford Explorer at its Feb. 9 meeting and requested further inspection before any transfer or sale.
Suzanne Goulet, staff member, told the board that the vehicle's registration is in the glove compartment and listed the options under consideration: selling the vehicle back to the original owner, retaining it for town mileage use, or assigning responsibility to the fire department. The board reviewed the vehicle's value and anticipated maintenance needs, including brakes and tires.
Selectmen asked staff to perform a more detailed assessment, including inspection of tires, brakes, and overall inspection status, before returning to the board with a recommendation. No decision or motion was recorded during the meeting.
