Litchfield — Property owner D. Lorusso told the Planning and Zoning Commission he intends to move his drainage business from Thomaston to his 17.5‑acre property at 39 McBride Road and proposes a dairy‑barn style 40‑by‑72‑foot garage and a 24‑by‑36‑foot shed.
Commissioners said the town’s zoning rules limit shop and storage space to 1,998 square feet based on habitable square footage of the residence. The commission asked Lorusso to submit a diagram showing which areas of the proposed garage and shed will be used for shop and storage (versus purely personal storage), and to provide a detailed description of his business activities, the number of employees, and hours of operation. Although the new buildings will have no plumbing, the commission noted that TAHD review will still be required.
On motion by Commissioner C. Bunnell, seconded by M. Eucalitto, the commission set a public hearing for April 6, 2026. The motion carried without recorded opposition.
