Planning board leaves Beal subdivision lot numbers unchanged, considers rule change to prevent future confusion

At its March 3 meeting the Temple Planning Board discussed an irregular lot-numbering situation in the Beal Subdivision in which a newly created lot assumed the original parcel’s number (2B-71) and the original parcel was renumbered (2B-71-1-1). Christine Robidoux, Vice Chair, explained Avitar adjusted its system to match the filed plans but notified the board that the original lot number should not be changed.
Board members agreed that correcting the numbering now would require the property owner to produce new plans, and they elected to leave the numbers as recorded rather than impose that burden. Robidoux said she will follow up with Carole Singelais about next steps.
The board discussed two possible longer-term responses to similar cases: updating local subdivision regulations and the application checklist to specify how lots should be numbered, or delegating numbering choices to Avitar. Members did not adopt either change at the meeting and left the matter for future rulemaking and discussion.
