Litchfield selectmen approve DEEP, STEAP and SMMR2 grants and a WasteZero program agreement

At the March 24 meeting, the Board of Selectmen approved several grants and a municipal program agreement affecting town infrastructure and stormwater projects.
The board approved a Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) Section 319 Nonpoint Source grant totaling $191,000 for the Litchfield Town Beach Stormwater Improvement Project: $53,000 for rain gardens #1 and #2 and $138,000 for rain gardens #3 and #4. First Selectman Denise Raap was authorized to enter into and sign the grant contract on behalf of the Town.
Separately, the board approved a DEEP SMMR2 grant in the amount of $99,556 and a 2025 Connecticut STEAP grant of $500,000 for the Reconstruction of Wigwam Road; motions to accept both grants passed unanimously. The board also approved a Turnkey Program Management, Implementation, and Consulting Agreement with WasteZero to manage the town27s pilot waste program.
All motions were moved by Selectman Jeff Zullo, seconded by Selectman Jodiann Tenney or John Bongiorno as noted in the minutes, and carried by recorded unanimous votes.
The approvals authorize the First Selectman to finalize contracts, execute necessary documentation, and include the grants in the Town27s Capital Improvement Program where applicable.
