Major approvals included acceptance of a grant offer (BHB3-23-006-065-2026) to acquire snow-removal equipment in the amount of $849,884 and authorization for the chair to sign grant paperwork. Purchases and transfers approved include a sheriff's-office purchase of one SpeedAlert variable message/radar trailer (AllTraffic Solutions model) for $34,999.64 to be paid from the sheriff's equipment reserve and reimbursed by federal grant funds; and a $34,999.54 transfer entry reflecting that payment source in the record.
Personnel actions approved by voice vote included hiring Jonathan Connery of Ellsworth (part-time, on-call) and Lintu Kegelina Pierce of Ellsworth (part-time, on-call cook, no benefits), and acceptance of resignations including Banyan Jarvis and Cameron Jennings effective July 17, 2026.
The commission accepted a $19,125 bid from Rick Curtis (contractor) for a rain-mitigation project at the county warehouse and directed that the payment come from the building reserve fund (G1-3011-00). On banking, commissioners instructed the treasurer to inform Tri Savings Bank that the county will accept the fixed-rate option of 2.75%; the motion passed by voice vote.
