Sugar Hill selectmen approve three permits pending site reviews, sign property tax abatement

Selectman Dick Bielefield and Selectman Rusty Talbot approved three property permits at the Sept. 8 Selectmen’s meeting, with the approvals conditioned on reviews by the building officer and the Fire Chief.
The permits approved pending conditions were for Ben Van Amerongen (Map 203, Lot 84) to enlarge an entry and porch and renovate an existing structure; John Degnan (Map 216, Lot 16) for a roof-mounted solar installation; and Nicole and Eric Schmarr (Map 223, Lot 25) for a new home on Hadley Road. The board recorded the approvals collectively rather than attributing them to a single mover or seconder in the minutes.
The board also signed a tax abatement for Joel Lanz after the assessor reviewed the relevant property. The minutes do not provide the abatement amount.
Town Administrator Jennifer Gaudette reported the Selectmen received a DES septic approval for operation for Blewer (Map 219, Lot 4) and noted the town received a final FEMA wage reimbursement of $1,793.35 related to the December 2023 storm.
The board’s approvals are subject to the building officer’s and Fire Chief’s stated conditions; the minutes indicate Jennifer Gaudette will coordinate follow-up and that Building Officer Dave Willey will be asked to review specific site locations referenced during the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 5:32 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 15, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at the Crapo Building.
