Slinger park board reviews project priorities and urges clearer budget timing

At the Nov. 4 Parks, Recreation & Forestry Board meeting, Director Tony Dobson presented a staff-prepared list of park project priorities and asked members to review it and add items staff may have missed. Dobson emphasized the importance of distinguishing between projects that are needed and those that are wanted.
Board members conducted a considerable review of the priorities list. Chair Jake Bergum asked for the board to begin ranking needs at the next meeting in January. Board member Bob Stuettgen said he wants better timing during next year’s budget discussions so the Park Board can provide a formal recommendation to the Village Board.
Supervisor Josh Feller reported seasonal forestry work: the crew planted the last four trees of the season (one replacement and three near the Breuer Park playground) and will begin pruning and trimming in the first two weeks of December. The board also discussed whether to meet in December or wait until January; the next meeting was set for Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.
Procedural motions recorded during the meeting included approval of the Sept. 3, 2024 minutes (Motion Behrend/Murray; passed), a motion to move the Recreation Supervisor introduction earlier on the agenda (Motion Behrend/Kusta; carried), and adjournment at 7:13 p.m. (Motion Behrend/Stuettgen; passed).
