Slinger recreation updates: leagues full, adaptive clinic, and credit-card payments planned for concessions

Elizabeth Van Maanen, Recreation Supervisor, told the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Board on Feb. 3 that youth volleyball and basketball leagues are full and tumbling classes are operating with waiting lists. She said staff are working to start senior programming and are monitoring registrations for an art exploration class.
Van Maanen updated the board on the Ice Age Trail Alliance partnership and announced a Breuer Park Family Fun Day planned for June; she said more details will be provided as planning continues. Separately, Director Tony Dobson encouraged board members to attend the 5th Annual Adaptive Basketball Clinic this Saturday at Slinger High School.
On operations, Dobson said Breuer Park will accept credit-card payments this summer and staff will evaluate how the payment system affects concession-stand sales in 2025; if successful, the same system may be added to Rueckl Park concessions in the future.
The board took no formal votes on programming or the concession payment plan at the meeting; staff will continue to monitor registrations and report back with results and event details.
