Forestry supervisor reports pruning, tree removals and DNR grant meeting

Parks & Forestry Supervisor Josh Feller updated the Village of Slinger Parks, Recreation & Forestry Board on Feb. 3 about tree work and an Urban Forestry grant.
Feller said crews are finishing pruning in the Alps subdivision, still have pruning to do along Polk and Beine Streets, and anticipate removing about 10 additional trees in the Alps subdivision. He told the board he met with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources staff regarding a recently awarded Urban Forestry grant.
Feller said staff expect to begin spring planting of new trees in May. Board members did not take formal action on the report; the update was informational and will inform scheduling and budgeting for upcoming forestry work.
The board asked staff to continue to coordinate pruning and removal schedules and to report back as grant-funded work and planting timelines are finalized.
