Agency notes new city citation ordinance and state riparian training starting July 1

Mary Rose told the agency the city’s new citation ordinance went into effect June 13 and provides another enforcement tool if an order remains unabated after 30 days. She said the ordinance is intended to help bring sites into compliance and protect wetland resources.
Rose also noted that House Bill 35334—an act concerning riparian areas—takes effect July 1. She said Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEP) will hire an employee to conduct training for inland wetlands commissioners on matters related to the inland wetlands and watercourses act, including riparian‑area preservation, and reminded commissioners to maintain or renew their DEP certificates.
Rose invited questions; none were raised. The agency noted the next regular meeting is July 15.
