The Springfield Municipal Regional Planning Commission voted unanimously July 2 to amend Section 801 of the zoning ordinance to authorize administrative approval of temporary residential development sales offices and model homes and to establish standards for permit duration, location, signage, accessibility and site restoration.
Community Development Director Durham told the commission that as residential development has increased staff identified a need for a clear and consistent review process. "The proposed amendment would authorize administrative approval of temporary sales offices and model homes within approved residential developments and establishes standards regarding permit duration, location, signage, accessibility, and restoration of the structure once the temporary use expires," Durham said.
Durham said staff believes administrative review of accessory, temporary uses will maintain appropriate operational standards while improving efficiency and consistency in development review. A motion to approve the amendment carried on a roll-call vote recorded as unanimous.
