The Town of Cushing Selectboard approved routine financial and administrative items, appointed two Harbor Board members to create a quorum and authorized listing a town property for sale.
Cheryl Stackpole moved to enter executive session pursuant to 1 M.R.S.A. § 405(6)(F) to discuss a confidential record; the minutes record Stackpole also moved, seconded by Tracey Bally, to list “Property A” for $20,000. The motion to list the property carried 4-0-0, as recorded in the minutes.
Tracey Bally moved, seconded by Craig Currie, to approve 2025 Warrants #38, #39 and #40; the motion carried 4-0-0. Craig Currie moved, seconded (the minutes list "Mike James") to approve the Selectboard minutes of Sept. 22, 2025 as written; the motion carried 4-0-0. The minutes also record later that the adjournment motion carried 3-0-0.
To ensure Harbor Board quorum, the Selectboard appointed Daniel Staples and Paul Ward; Cheryl Stackpole made the motion, seconded by Craig Currie, and the appointment motion carried 4-0-0. The board noted that the appointments were intended to give the Harbor Board a quorum.
The record contains two inconsistencies: the document header at the top of the minutes lists the date "09/22/2025," while the meeting notice lists "Monday October 14th, 2025." Separately, the attendance lines list Michael James as absent near the start of the minutes, but later motion seconds are recorded to "Mike James," and the adjournment motion shows a 3-0-0 tally. The minutes should be checked for internal consistency before these minutes are finalized for the official record.
Other non-vote items recorded for follow-up: Selectboard members discussed assessors’ availability on Thursdays and asked staff to consider appointment or signage options; staff reported that several high-mounted lights in the Pre-K room are not working and that Lisa Young will contact an electrician.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 P.M., as recorded in the minutes.
