Cushing Selectboard approves asbestos‑removal quote, signs warrants and delays road‑work award

The board approved 2025 Warrants #7 and #8 after a motion from Chair Craig Currie that Tracey Bally seconded. The vote was recorded as 5‑0‑0. The board also approved the Feb. 10, 2025 meeting minutes (motion by Craig Currie, second by Cheryl Stackpole), with the minutes approved 4‑0‑0 and one member, Brian Soiett, recorded absent.
On building maintenance matters, the board voted to accept an asbestos‑removal quote from RJ Enterprises, Inc., for $1,200. Selectboard member Tracey Bally seconded the motion; the board recorded the funding source as Town Building Maintenance funds and approved the motion 5‑0‑0.
The board opened two bids for summer town road maintenance but opted not to pick a contractor at the meeting. Craig Currie moved and Michael James seconded a motion to table awarding the contract until the March 10, 2025 meeting to allow members time to compare the two bids; the motion carried 5‑0‑0.
Other routine items approved or noted included authorizing acceptance of a recommendation to install a new water pump at the fire station and approving staff member Austin Donaghy’s request to use the community room the week of March 24. The board also confirmed that the town’s salt and sand supplies had been refilled and that members signed the Annual Town Meeting warrant.
The meeting adjourned at 6:43 P.M. following unanimous approval of the adjournment motion. The board’s next scheduled action on the road maintenance bids is March 10, 2025.
