Santa Ana County commissioners adopt FY2027 community corrections grant, approve claims and multiple park and demolition contracts

The Santa Ana County Board of Commissioners on July 7 approved a slate of budget and contracting measures, including participation in a regional FY2027 community corrections grant, payment of $174,229.41 in current claims and multiple park and demolition contracts.
Commissioner John Moody offered a resolution authorizing the county’s participation in the Thumb Area Regional Community Corrections FY2027 grant application for the period Oct. 1, 2027, through Sept. 30, 2027; Commissioner Christine Lee supported the resolution. The measure passed on a roll-call vote with affirmative votes recorded from all present commissioners.
Administrator Nathan told the board the state budget had been approved by both chambers and was awaiting the governor’s signature, a development county staff said would help local grant and program planning.
On routine finance items, Finance Chair Sarkelos moved and Commissioner Ehart supported approval of current claims totaling $174,229.41. Commissioners voted in favor of the claims on a voice vote.
The board also approved budget amendments and account setups under FA093-26, authorized creation of a temporary seasonal work crew supervisor at a starting wage of $23.59 per hour funded from the sheriff’s budget (FA094-26), and awarded the Forrester Park drainage flood-control bid (not to exceed $6,781.42) and a pavilion repainting contract (not to exceed $7,200) from the Parks Millage Fund.
The board adopted a ceremonial resolution honoring Corporal George F. Seffske after the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency identified his remains; Commissioner Evans Ehart read the resolution.
Most votes were carried by unanimous voice vote or roll call in favor. The board concluded its open session business by moving into a closed session to review an attorney–client privileged communication.
