Silver Creek Township authorizes maintenance spending, approves disbursements

At its Sept. 2, 2025 meeting the Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors approved a set of maintenance-related expenditures and authorized disbursements totaling $6,929.

Supervisor Andy Christensen moved to amend the agenda to add a Recycling Grant item and to approve the list of disbursements for $6,929; Vice Chair Brandon Geyen seconded and both motions carried 3-0. The board later carried a motion approving $45 per person for the Fall Maintenance Expo (moved by Christensen, seconded by Geyen) with the same 3-0 vote.

Under the maintenance report, the board directed staff to gather estimates for a new hot box and approved a pit-reclamation plan for up to $30,000 this season. Otto, a maintenance staffer, told the board he will have road plans ready by mid-October. The board also discussed repair and invoicing of damage to Barton Ave caused by an excavator and instructed maintenance to work with homeowners on non-compliant mailboxes; owners of “improved” driveways will be asked in writing to bring their driveways up to specification.

Chairman Helman moved to approve up to $9,250 for grader tires, including installation; Supervisor Christensen seconded and the motion carried 3-0. The board recorded the motion and outcome as a formal approval.

The maintenance discussion also noted that a party identified in the minutes as Clearwater would like to chipseal Elder; the board said that topic will be considered during upcoming budget discussions.

The board adjourned at 9:15 p.m. after a motion by Vice Chair Geyen, seconded by Supervisor Christensen, carried 3-0.
