She said she contacted the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, the State Board of Cosmetology, and the New Jersey Department of Education and was told that scheduling exceptions fall under the district’s authority. "I am here formally requesting an exception to be granted so that my son may enroll in both Cosmetology II and III concurrently," she said, and asked for a written response.
A board member who said she had already talked with the parent in the day’s prior phone calls told the parent she would continue to follow up and promised to work to resolve the situation. The administration acknowledged the request and said the board member and staff would continue the conversation outside the meeting and provide a written response.
The board did not take immediate action on the request during the meeting; the parent’s request will be handled administratively and the board member indicated she would remain in contact.
