Millsboro council swears in new members and re-elects Bobby Key as mayor

The Millsboro Town Council opened its July 6 meeting by swearing in newly elected council members and reappointing leadership for the coming term.
Mayor Bobby Key was nominated for a second term and confirmed by unanimous voice vote; Marty Presley was elected vice president, Ron O'Neil was chosen president pro tem, Mary De Silva was nominated as council secretary (she accepted the nomination in absentia) and Ron Mason was confirmed as treasurer. Council then confirmed the make-up of standing committees, including asset management, charter and code review, downtown Millsboro and parks committees.
The reorganizational moves were procedural and accompanied by routine committee confirmations. Council members emphasized continuity and a heavy workload for volunteers and staff. "What has been accomplished this past year has been phenomenal," Mayor McKeit said during the remarks summarizing the year's progress.
Council also noted it will revisit committee assignments later if members wish to change seats. The meeting moved next to public comment and departmental reports.
The council recessed later in the meeting to take an official group photograph before adjourning.
