Central Middle School student honored as Morris County ‘Unsung Hero’

The Long Hill Township Board of Education on March 16 presented a resolution honoring Central Middle School student Joaquin Squiziato as a 2026 Morris County Unsung Hero.
Principal Vitorello read the board-prepared resolution and described Squiziato as “a student whose character is defined by his quiet confidence and purposeful action,” noting his long commitment to the With Grace initiative, participation in Boy Scouts and work in the Fiserv Future Techies program.
Superintendent George Alexis and other board members congratulated Squiziato and his family; Alexis noted broad community response to the announcement and said the district received an unusually large number of positive comments on social media about the selection. The board then moved to present the resolution and approved it by roll call.
The district said the award recognizes students who “may have organized community programs, selflessly supported their peers, or achieved significant academic success while overcoming difficult personal challenges.” Principal Vitorello said the school is proud to honor Squiziato and wished him continued success.
No formal action beyond presentation of the resolution was required; the board recorded the roll-call approval during the meeting.
