Urbanna council reappoints several members to boards, approves holiday closures and sets 2026 organizational meeting

The Urbanna Town Council on Dec. 11 approved a package of routine governance items and scheduling motions.
Reappointments: Council approved Resolution 2025-020 reappointing Amy Denny and Barbara Hartley to the Board of Historic and Architectural Review (terms to 12/31/2030 and 12/31/2029 respectively); approved Resolution 2025-021 reappointing Bill Powers to the Planning Commission for a four-year term (expiring 12/31/2029); and approved Resolution 2025-022 recommending John Anzavino and Lewis Hall for reappointment to the Board of Zoning Appeals (5-year terms with expirations noted in the record). Each resolution was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Holiday office closures: A council member moved to close the town office for the full day on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) and New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) and to direct staff to publicize the closure; the motion carried on voice vote.
Organization meeting and schedule: Council set the 2026 organizational meeting for Jan. 8, 2026 at 6 p.m. at the current town hall (390 Virginia Street, Suite B, Urbanna). Staff asked council members to submit ranked top-five priorities in advance to aid the midyear review and priority-setting process.
