The council voted to confirm Molly Martinez as the town assessor after the town manager highlighted her seven years as deputy assessor in Westport and her assessor certification. Martinez told the council, “I’m Molly Martinez… looking forward to being the new assessor for the town of Cromwell.” The motion to approve her appointment was made and carried by voice vote.
The council also approved Charles Epstein as emergency management director. The town manager said Epstein had served in related roles, and Epstein said he was “honored to accept this position” and emphasized the need for 24‑hour emergency planning after recent extreme heat and heavy rains.
Councilors appointed Michael Becker to the Inland Wetlands Agency and Sonda Weston to the Cultural District Commission as part of the night’s personnel actions. The council additionally appointed a four‑member search committee to oversee the town manager recruitment; the town manager said the recruitment firm contract includes a $10,000 spending cap before the council must re‑authorize further work.
After an executive session to review the tentative collective bargaining agreement, the council voted to ratify the tentative agreement with the NAGE local police department personnel union. The council approved the ratification by voice vote.
Mayor (identified in the meeting as the presiding officer) thanked staff for the night’s work and welcomed the appointees. No roll‑call tallies were read into the record; motions were recorded as carrying by voice vote.
