Hamilton police report hires, holiday outreach; city updates clinic timeline and hydrant testing

Hamilton city leaders used the Dec. 10 council meeting to report routine public-safety and community updates, including police staffing changes, a holiday outreach program, an upcoming hydrant-testing deadline and a planned new clinic.

Police Chief Weiss told the council the department had 'a great month' and that officers will participate in a 'Shop with a cop' event on Thursday. He thanked former Mayor Ransom Farley for identifying a family and said the department partnered with Harris County Family Connections to provide gifts for three families (ten children in total). Chief Weiss also announced personnel changes: Officer Samuel Hassel will be employed full time by the city; Officer Robert Davis will be employed part time; and Officer Michael Brown has shifted to a part-time role.

Fire Chief Justin Oliver reported that 'nothing new is going on right now. Everything is quiet and steady,' and reminded the council that fire-hydrant testing needs to be completed by Jan. 31, 2026.

City Manager Rhett Wade said a new physical therapy clinic 'is expected to close this month and to be built in January 2026.' He also said he met with the Harris County Men's Club, which requested the city's assistance validating a white paper to make Mack Miller Lane a historical marker and offered help with a Remembrance project. Wade said he is organizing a business 'table top' in March 2026 to connect with local businesses.
