Chief Weiss reported to the council that overall call volume for the department is up about 20% compared with the prior year and that the department’s new body-camera system is performing satisfactorily in quality, storage and related functions. He told the council the department and the sheriff's office conducted fingerprinting for the Harris County Homeschool Association and said members of the public have requested a speed bump on Ford Lane.
Weiss also told the council the department has pending warrants connected to an incident involving bad checks from about two years ago and said an arrest is expected to be made this week.
Fire Chief Justin Oliver reported the department answered 14 calls for service since the last meeting and said he will travel to Bradenton, Florida, next week for the final inspection of a new fire truck that the minutes say should arrive within a week or two.
No formal action or ordinance was considered on public-safety items at the meeting.
