At the Sept. 8 meeting public works and utilities staff briefed the council on ongoing maintenance and a significant water leak.
T. Mahone, reporting for Street/Maintenance, said trees around the town square required cleanup and raised continuing issues with people leaving items in a cul-de-sac. Mahone also noted a roadkill issue on a highway that would require contact with the Department of Transportation.
B. Hood, reporting for Water/Sewer, said the system experienced several leaks and described a "major leak" behind Tiger Lillies that left some businesses without water. Hood said crews will make sure the ground is properly compacted before the hole is packed with asphalt.
The council did not vote on funding or specific remediation timelines during the meeting; staff were given no public deadline in the transcript to complete repairs.
