Castle Dale names new "Abilities Park" after donation; county begins site work

The Castle Dale City Council voted unanimously on June 11 to name the city’s new inclusive playground "Abilities Park."
Emery County Commissioner David Sebring presented a donation check from his family in support of the project and said he has seen the positive impact of similar parks elsewhere in Utah. Mayor Danny Van Wagoner told the council the county had already begun dirt work at the site and that a ribbon-cutting invitation will be extended to Senator Curtis’ office.
Maintenance Supervisor Ignacio Arrien reported that work on the new park has begun. The council instructed maintenance and parks staff to proceed with procurement and to update signage and records to reflect the new name.
The council approved the park surfacing payment (the third installment of $10,000 to finish Cheddar Field) as part of broader purchases authorized at the meeting.
