Township finishes digitizing zoning hearing board records, plans LaserPeach integration

Staff reported completion of a multi-hundred–case digitization of zoning hearing board records (357 cases) and said the township will expand the workflow to subdivisions and land-development records and integrate records into LaserPeach for parcel-based lookup.
Julia and planning staff told the board they have completed a multi-month effort to scan and enter metadata for the township’s zoning hearing board records and to upload those records into LaserPeach.
"The zoning hearing board metadata is complete," Julia said, calling the work "probably literally hundreds of hours" between staff. She said the project covers 357 cases and includes applicant names and representative details, making it possible to pull all associated information by parcel number in LaserPeach.
Planning staff said the system will next be expanded to cover subdivisions and land-development files so that future staff and reviewers need not rely on paper card files or individual institutional memory. The board and staff said the change should speed reviews and reduce the need for repeated variance requests for minor parking or other technical adjustments.
Staff also noted permit activity for June (17 permits issued) and an upcoming conditional-use hearing for a floodplain matter on July 22. The digitization project is already in use for the zoning hearing board and will be rolled out to other record sets over the coming months.
