Bedford bus driver tells board she worked a pay period without pay and cited repeated payroll errors

At the July 10 meeting, Shameria Alexander, a Bedford City Schools bus driver, told the board she had worked a full pay period without pay after her summer‑employment approval was not submitted, and she described repeated payroll problems that have caused financial hardship.

Alexander thanked staff who helped her sister obtain a transcript but said she received an email informing her that “due to an oversight, my name had never been submitted for board approval for summer employment.” She said she worked the entire pay period without receiving pay and was told she would have to wait until the next payroll cycle. Alexander said this was not the first payroll error: a previous pay period resulted in underpayment that was later corrected, and a December paycheck was rejected when banking information had not been processed.

Board President asked for Alexander’s contact information and said the district would work with Transportation and the treasurer’s office to see what could be done to assist. "We will do what we can to help you with that situation," the Board President said. A board member also expressed sympathy for the uncertainty the employee described.

Alexander asked the district to resolve the matter promptly and fairly and urged cross‑departmental cooperation so employees do not bear the financial burden of administrative mistakes.
