Residents press Urbanna on street-sign poles, dinghy dock repairs during public comment

William Mayo, who identified himself and gave his address, said a dinghy dock step and surrounding grass remain unrepaired a year after purchase and described telephone-pole areas near Bristol's Corner as "a handicap ramp" that looks unsafe. He offered to help locate bricks for repairs.
Kristian Savino (350 Howard St.) told the council she supports the street-sign program but asked what the town will do about poles that are peeling and in poor condition. The clerk and town administrator said the reflective signs were part of the county 911 identification system and that the county had verbally agreed to replace poles in bad condition; staff said they would contact the responsible county official (Matt) to follow up.
Why it matters: the signs were intended to improve 911 address identification but residents said aging poles undermine those improvements and create visual blight and pedestrian hazards. Council members agreed to revisit the poles and seek clarification from the county on standardized, more durable posts (for example, galvanized metal).
