The Green Township Environmental Advisory Committee on June 2 accepted a $1,460 Open Space Stewardship Grant from the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC), approved an educational sign design, and authorized outreach materials ahead of Green Township Day.
The meeting, called to order at 5:35 p.m. at the municipal building, recorded Michael Wood, Cynthia Moyano, Fausto Moyano, Ellen Lessin and Matt Fox as present; Christopher Sullivan was absent. Gwen Santos, the committee secretary, recorded the minutes.
Committee member Ellen Lessin presented a draft of an educational sign developed with Gravity DesignWorks. Committee member Matt Fox moved to approve the sign’s verbiage and dimensions; Fausto Moyano seconded the motion, which carried unanimously among members present.
The committee announced it had been awarded an ANJEC Open Space Stewardship Grant for $1,460. The grant agreement was reviewed and signed during the meeting. Matt Fox said he will prepare an informational flyer about the grant and related activities for the committee’s table at Green Township Day. Discussion about specific items to purchase with the grant money was held but tabled after a motion by Cynthia Moyano and a second by Fausto Moyano; the committee agreed to revisit spending at a later meeting.
Committee members reviewed an updated project summary spreadsheet; Fausto Moyano moved to approve the updated data and Matt Fox seconded. The motion carried. Ellen Lessin noted that Sharon Wander will provide deer fence and tape when members are ready to install; the timing of installation was tabled until the next meeting following a motion by Fausto Moyano and a second by Cynthia Moyano.
The committee reviewed and approved its budget after a motion from Matt Fox, seconded by Fausto Moyano. Members also reviewed a brochure for distribution at Green Township Day; Fausto Moyano moved to approve the brochure, Cynthia Moyano seconded, and the committee authorized printing 25 copies.
No members of the public spoke during the public-comment portion. Fausto Moyano moved to adjourn at 6:20 p.m.; Matt Fox seconded and the motion carried. The committee scheduled its next meeting for July 7, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
