The Riverside Township Board of Education on May 4 approved a broad set of personnel and program measures, including creation of a new PreK–12 Dean of Instruction for the 2026–2027 school year and multiple resignations, reappointments, summer workers and program staff.
The new PreK–12 Dean of Instruction is listed in the public motion as Sandra Szczepanski (10‑month position) at a contractual salary of $81,500 and a start date of August 28, 2026, pending criminal history review. The board approved revised job descriptions for Summer RAMP Tutor and Academy Lead positions and a range of summer employees, custodial hires, R.A.M.P. tutors, extended school year teachers and aides, substitute lists and home instruction assignments. Several resignations were accepted, including the retirement of Karen Carver after 47 years in the district.
Personnel highlights: the board accepted resignations for Elizabeth Lenkowski (Elementary Office Clerk), Laura Bruzek (Elementary Guidance Counselor), Amy Glassmire (Elementary Ambulatory Aide), Karen Carver (Elementary Basic Skills Aide, retirement) and others; approved contract rescissions and reappointments including Christine Masso (to Middle School Special Education Teacher) and Jennifer Restituyo De Los Santos (to Night Time Supervisor); approved summer teacher and aide appointments with per‑diem/hourly rates as listed in meeting attachments; and approved fall coaching assignments and salaries for multiple sports.
Program approvals: the board approved Educere, Inc. to provide remedial summer credit courses to Riverside High School students at no cost to the district, two new voluntary middle school clubs (Cosmetology Career Exploration and Dance Club), and Riverside High School participation in the Burlington County Teen Mental Health Summit on June 2, 2026.
Speakers and motions: many of these measures were moved by Mrs. Winering or Ms. Strough and seconded by Mr. Hopkins or Mrs. Wrice; all personnel and program motions were recorded as carried unanimously. The board also approved tuition reimbursements for staff coursework and student teacher placements from Rowan University.
What to watch: these personnel approvals create several new positions and summer program staffing that will be implemented before the 2026–2027 school year; criminal history reviews are noted as pending for several hires and start dates are listed in the motions.
