Fire division asks board to approve Tablet Command service agreement; board authorizes chief to sign pending legal review

Noah Lace, division chief for the Elkhart fire department, told the Board of Public Safety on June 23 that the department is seeking approval to adopt Tablet Command, software designed to digitize incident command sheets and improve accountability for large-incident management.
"We're asking for permission to go ahead with Tablet Command," Lace said, explaining the system would time-stamp incident-command sheets, work alongside the department's existing Vector software and provide features the department does not currently have. Lace said the platform would improve accountability, tracking and the ability to manage incident operations digitally.
A board member moved to approve the service agreement for Tablet Command in the amount of $27,900 and to give the fire chief permission to sign the agreement pending approval from city legal. The motion passed by voice vote.
The approval authorizes the department to proceed with contract execution after legal review; no additional funding sources or implementation schedule were specified in the meeting record.
